Safety Tips When You're on the 'Pull'

Pull Safe Safe Sex Date Danger Dating

A Friday night in your local bar is full of groups of guys and girls on the pull. It's fun to go out with your friends looking for a hot date, but make sure you pay as much attention to your safety as you do how hot your date is.

Don’t Drink too Much

Going out on the pull always involves having a few drinks and enjoying yourself. There is nothing wrong with that and a small dose of alcohol can give you a boost in confidence when approaching the opposite sex. However be careful you don’t get carried away and drink too much. Know your limits. If you drink too much your defences will be lower and your judgement will be clouded. You may decide to do things that you would never consider in a sober state.

Stay With Friends

Usually when you go out on the pull you will be with a group of friends. Your friends are your best defence against danger and you should try to stick with them as much as you can. If you find someone you want to chat up then stay within sight of your friends and make sure they get a good look at who you are talking to. If your friends know you are pulling then they can report it if something goes wrong and your date is much less likely to try something on if they know your friends can recognise them.

Tell Someone

If you get lucky and decide you want to go somewhere more intimate then make sure you let your friends know. Tell them where you are going, who with and say you will text them to let them know you are safe. It is important that friends always check up on each other if they don’t hear back. Also, listen to your friends’ advice if they think you are too drunk or don’t trust the person you want to leave with. It is always good to have a second opinion.

Safe Sex

If you find a hot date and you just can’t resist then make sure you indulge in safe sex. Having just ‘pulled’ you know nothing about the other person’s sexual history and using condoms is a must. Even if you are on the pill it won’t protect against STDs which can be a sore ending to some great sex. Don’t leave things to chance or expect the other person to have condoms, always carry your own with you. This doesn’t make you promiscuous or easy, it just makes you sensible. If your date refuses to use them then refuse to have sex with them. However great the urge is to give in, it’s just not worth the risk.

Know How to get Home

If you end up going back to your date’s place, though this isn’t advisable, or stay out once your friends have gone, you need to know how you are going to get home. Make sure you know exactly where you are and have the number of a licensed taxi firm. Also be sure to put aside enough money to pay for it. It is very tempting as the night goes on to spend your cash on drink and not budget for your lift home. This is a dangerous decision and is not worth that extra cocktail or two.

However excited you are about your latest ‘pull’ make sure you don’t get carried away in the moment. Take a few minutes to consider your safety and make sure your night doesn’t end on a dull note.
